Women’s hygiene, health discussed
Women’s hygiene and health is an important issue, but due to taboos in society, the issue is brushed under the carpet, but now it is high time young girls were encouraged to talk about their health.
This was stated at a seminar by Dr Aasma Qayyum, consultant gynecologist and in charge of the Family Health Clinic at the Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital.
The seminar, whose title was "Women’s Health", was held at the Department of Gender Studies of the University of Punjab in collaboration with the Metier Groupe, the Express Media Group and the Gender Studies Department of the University of Punjab.
A large number of female students of the university and faculty members attended the seminar.

Dr Aasma Qayyum in her lecture highlighted the importance of Pyodine Gel and Pyodine Solution for the physical health of females.
"Female hygiene, health and cleanliness is necessary for the health of a female, especially for young girls, and there is a need that we should give awareness to our girls in this regard as we have seen at hospitals a large number of girls due to the ignorance of women hygiene,” she said.
Dr Aasma Qayyum laid emphasis on the role of a mother at home and a teacher at the educational institutions in giving awareness to girls about their physical health.
“Our teachers should allocate some time to guide the girls about their health. Physical changes occur in a girl’s body with the increase in her age, and during this time females should be made aware of the issues of their physical health and problems during cycles of menstruation, especially about hygiene during these times,” she said.
