Security forces killed a terrorist belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in a remote area of Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that security forces conducted the operation on a tip-off about the terrorists’ hideout in Sambaza area of the province to apprehend the TTP terrorists “who were trying to infiltrate into adjacent tribal districts”.

“Once the troops cordoned the area, terrorists hiding in a cave tried to flee and opened indiscriminate fire wherein, a heavy exchange of fire occurred,” the ISPR said.

Resultantly, the military’s media said one terrorist was killed and a cache of arms and ammunition also recovered that was planned to be used by terrorists against the security forces.

“Operations to eliminate perpetrators of terrorist acts in Pakistan will continue and they will not be allowed to sabotage peace and stability of Pakistan,” it added.

Separately, security forces also killed six terrorists in North Waziristan district's Hamzoni area during an operation conducted on their presence, the military said in a statement earlier today.

According to the ISPR, terrorists Muhammad Ali, Mateeullah, Muhammad Umar, Akhtar Hussain, Sher and Waseem were killed during the operation on Tuesday.

"Weapons, ammunition and equipment were also recovered from the killed terrorists which include submachine guns, hand grenades, mines, handcuffs and a large number of multiple calibre rounds," it added.
