Robbers become pluckier with each passing day

City's red zone also in range of muggers

KARACHI:

The street criminals continue to commit crimes in the city during broad daylight with complete impunity.

Three unidentified armed motorcyclists looted mobile phones, cash, and other belongings from the citizens sitting in the street near Aqsa Mosque in Orangi Town, Sector 11/E, at gunpoint and escaped. The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media. The faces of the three suspects involved in the incident are clear in the CCTV footage, and they can be arrested with the help of the footage.

Meanwhile, in New Karachi Sector-3, dacoits looted thousands of rupees from a milk shop. Three armed suspects riding two motorcycles committed the robbery. One of the suspects easily entered the shop through an iron grill and snatched away cash. The suspects remained very calm during the incident and escaped. Footage of the incident also surfaced.

The city's red zone has also not been safe from the muggers. A CCTV footage of an incident involving a civilian on the Clifton Bridge in Civil Lines came to light on February 14.

In the footage, it can be seen that two suspects on a motorcycle stopped after seeing a citizen sitting in a car parked in the parking lot. Shortly afterwards, the suspects returned to the vehicle, looted valuables, watch, cash, wallet, and other articles at gunpoint, and fled.

Veer Bhan, a relative of the looted citizen, was also shot dead on January 12 during a snatching incident near Schon Circle in Clifton. Meanwhile, in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block-3, two unidentified armed men on a motorbike tried to rob a citizen who was leaving his house for an early morning walk, but the robbers could not succeed as the citizen did not have anything in his pockets.

CCTV footage of the incident shows suspects searching the citizen. However, when his pockets were found empty, the robbers returned disappointed.
