Tarin discusses inclusion of overseas Pakistanis in programme

ISLAMABAD:

The Kamyab Pakistan Programme (KPP) is a milestone project that has massive potential to transform lives of the lower strata of society, remarked Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin.

Presiding over a meeting of the Steering Committee on Kamyab Pakistan Programme on Monday, the minister was informed that the scheme was functioning successfully and applications for the grant of loans were being received through SMS.

A detailed presentation was given on the progress of Kamyab Pakistan Programme.

The meeting was informed that loans were being disbursed to the deserving applicants after they met the requirements, a statement said.

Loans worth over Rs2.5 billion had been disbursed and small loans for businesses, farmers and construction of houses were also part of the initiative.

The finance minister appreciated all stakeholders for their contribution to the success of the Kamyab Pakistan Programme.

According to the statement, the meeting also discussed the inclusion of Pakistani migrant workers into the programme as Tarin directed the stakeholders to frame modalities for the disbursement of interest-free loans to overseas workers of the country.

Participants of the meeting assured the finance minister of their full cooperation and participation in making the programme a success.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development Ayub Afridi, finance secretary, The Bank of Punjab president, SECP chairman and other senior officers attended the meeting.
