Fact Check: Shah Rukh Khan’s latest viral picture is FAKE

The viral photo is a doctored image from an old photo shoot from 2017

Entertainment Desk February 21, 2022

An unseen picture of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan surfaced on social media through a fan page and has been viral ever since. The picture sees the Raees star in long pepper hair, a thick beard while posing all dressed up in a black tuxedo. However as charming the photo might be, it is not real.

Shared with love from fan pages, many believed that it is his new avatar for his upcoming film, Pathan. The confusion, however, is somewhat justified since Shah Rukh’s recent look isn’t quite different from how the picture looks. He was last seen with his long hair tied in a bun and face mask at the legendary Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral.

So where did this picture come from? In reality, the picture is a photoshopped version of a photo from one of his old photoshoots with Dabboo Ratnani in 2017, as per Hindustan Times. Dabboo had shared the photo on Facebook with the caption, “Sexy isn’t a shape, it’s an attitude. Big love, Shah Rukh Khan.” Dispelling rumours, Ratnani reshared the original picture on his Instagram.

After the 2018 Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif-starrer Zero, Shah Rukh has not announced a film. His upcoming film Pathan starring alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham does not have an official date either. After his eldest son’s arrest in connection with a drugs case, the Dilwale star has kept a low profile in both; the glamour world and online.
