Aptera Motors' beta SEV beats Tesla Model 3, Audi R8 GT Spyder in drag race

The Alpha and Beta three-wheeled car models by Aptera Motors are powered by solar and can compete with Audi and Tesla.

Aptera Motors’ upcoming three-wheel electric car(beta)  won a race against its Alpha version, Tesla Model 3 and Audi R8 GT Spyder.

The solar EV startup shared a video of a desert drag race between its upcoming EV Alpha and Beta version against a Tesla Model 3 and Audi R8 GT Spyder on YouTube. The video depicts the Aptera car clearly winning the race, while Audi and Tesla follow close behind. The three-wheeled Aptera Noir beats the classic four-wheeled cars in the short race.

Aptera is constantly working to bring SEV to the market, gaining fans along the way after it unveiled its Aptera SEV in 2020. The public has seen three different color versions of the alpha model, black, white, and metallic silver. The vehicles are the first solar-driven car requiring no charging for daily driving and ensuring eco-friendliness. The unique shape allows air the car to slip through the air only consuming 30% of the energy in comparison with other vehicles. With the ability to go 1000 mile range on a single charge, the car can do 40 miles of solar-powered driving per day.

While Aptera hasn't reached the market, it is taking reservations on its website for the vehicle.
