Amir Khan hopeful of beating Kell Brook

British boxer says he won’t ‘let my fans down’ when he takes on compatriot in welterweight fight

British boxer of Pakistan-origin Amir Khan is ‘hopeful’ of winning his highly-anticipated welterweight fight against compatriot Kell Brook at Manchester Arena on Saturday.

According to details, Amir exuded confidence while talking to media following a training session at a jam-packed Trafford Centre. “I’m very hopeful of winning this fight. I’ve undergone strenuous training, including mountain runs. I won’t let my fans down,” said Amir.

Both boxers won silver medals at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. Amir turned professional in 2005. A former Commonwealth lightweight champion and a WBA light welterweight title holder, Amir has emerged victorious in 35 professional bouts, having tasted defeat on four occasions. He has claimed 21 knockout wins.

On the other hand, Brook has 39 wins under his belt with only three losses. He has been successful in knocking out his opponents a total of 27 times.

Other fighters will also be seen in action in the lead-up to the big showdown between Khan and Brook. Abdul Khan will take on Ricky Star in lightweight; Ibrahim Nadim will be up against Taka Bembere in super featherweight category; Adam Azim will lock horns with Jordan Ellison in lightweight bout, and Hassan Azeem is scheduled to face MJ Paul in welterweight.
