Punjab for increasing subsidy on Kissan Cards

Punjab has requested the federal government to enhance the subsidy amount for Kissan Cards in order to achieve the target of distributing 1 million cards by the end of June 2022.
The provincial government has also approved a project to facilitate farmers by providing subsidised agricultural implements based on a ratio of 60:40.
Chairing the 18th meeting of the National Coordination Committee on Agriculture Transformation Plan on Wednesday, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam reviewed the progress on interventions under the transformation plan.
Imam invited the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Ministry of Finance to hold a dedicated meeting in order to formulate a clear roadmap for enhancing the agricultural credit flow to the farming community.
He also shared his concern over the lack of availability of certified seeds for various crops, especially cotton and wheat.
Moreover, he told all provinces and federal ministries to expedite the pace of interventions to transform the agriculture sector as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
On the occasion, the finance ministry pointed out that funds had been allocated through the Kamyab Kissan Package for farmers.
The government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa pointed out that around 124,000 farmers had been registered through the Kissan Cards for the disbursement of subsidy.
The government of Balochistan was directed to ensure the availability of funds for agriculture-related development projects.
Moreover, all provincial agricultural departments were requested to share the total amount of subsidies, keeping in mind their future needs.
