Police mull Rs5m bounty for fugitive in Dua Mangi case

Top brass of Sindh police is likely to offer a reward for catching the fugitive in the Dua Mangi kidnapping for ransom case.

Sindh police chief has suggested a bounty of Rs5 million to people who will help in catching Zohaib Qureshi, dead or alive.

According to sources, the Sindh IGP will recommend a reward in a letter to the Sindh Home Department in this regard. The name of the informant will also be kept confidential.

Qureshi, under trial for the high-profile kidnapping case, had escaped from a mall at the shopping hub of the city, Tariq Road, where court police had brought him illegally during a break from case hearing at the city courts on January 27.

Police later arrested court police officers and detained several people, including an online taxi driver, for questioning. However, the arrest of fugitive accused Zohaib Qureshi has not been made yet.

Dua Mangi was abducted on November 30, 2019 outside a restaurant in Defense House Authority. She was safely returned home one week later after payment of ransom.
