OKARA:

The TikToker Sonia Amin was presented in court on Saturday where the court approved her bail plea. Sonia Amin had made a video sitting in a vehicle of a checkpoint of the Shergarh police station and made it viral on the social media.

DPO Faisal Gulzar had taken action against Sonia for making the video viral, and the girl had been arrested after registration of a case against her. The DPO also suspended the driver of the police vehicle concerned. Sattar had been posted as a driver at Chowki Shergarh, and his suspension came about on charges of negligence. Meanwhile, a girl wearing police uniform and making a TikTok video in Hujra Shah Muqeem is also on bail. The craze of TikTok among the youth has overwhelmed Okara. A girl named Amber made a TikTok video in a police uniform and made it viral.

On the one hand, police uniforms were being used and on the other hand, videos were being made on songs in police vehicles. DPO Faisal Gulzar had formed an inquiry team after the Chowki Shergarh incident. He said that if the in charge of the Chowki was found involved then legal action would be taken against him. Other content creators has also caused concerns for people. For example, after the harassment incident at the Greater Iqbal Park, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Vice Chairperson Hafiz Zeeshan Rashid had proposed last year monitoring of videography by social media content creators in public parks across the provincial metropolis.

In a letter addressed to the PHA director general, the horticulture authority’s vice chairperson had asked the authority to review its policy of usage of public parks under its control in light of the unfortunate incident of the harassment incident which occurred at Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day. “We are considering imposing a ban on free access for content creators in public parks. They will have to take permission from the authority for shooting in public parks,” he had proposed in a letter.

He had further said being a responsible authority, the PHA condemned all unethical content and disrespectful attitude especially against women in public places generally and PHA parks specifically. He had highlighted that the authority was reviewing its policy of public parks usage by social media influencers. He had also proposed to the authority to ask the government to establish a police chowki at the Minare-Pakistan and hand over this historic park’s security to Punjab Rangers.
