A man and his three sons died when their car collided headon with another car near 10- One L Road in Pir Di Hatti on the outskirts of Okara
Seven other people, including the deceased man’s wife, had sustained serious injuries in the accident, and they were being treated in a hospital.
Altaf Hussain, a resident of 48 3R, a village in the outskirts of Okara, along with his wife, Amna, a sister-in-law, Rashida, and his sons had been heading to the village 10 One L of Renala Khurd to visit his cousin, Asif Mehmood.
When their car reached Pir Di Hitti Road near the village, it collided head-on with another car. Altaf’s sons, Noman and Rehman, were killed on the spot while Altaf and his third son, Sufiyan, died in a hospital in Sahiwal where they had been taken to in a critical condition.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to their native village by the police after taking necessary action where their funeral prayers were offered on Saturday afternoon which was attended by hundreds of people.
Gloom had gripped the entire village, and life had come to a standstill.
The shops in the village remained closed as a mark of respect to the dead.
When the funerals rites began, the village descended into the depth of despair. The women of the village wept hysterically, and there was nothing that could console them.
They had been thinking about the woman who had lost her husband and three sons in a flash, a tragedy too horrific for any human being to come to terms with.
Last year in July, four people had been killed while 21 others had sustained injuries after a passenger bus overturned at the National Highway near the Okara Cantonment.
Rescue 1122 had said the bus overturned near Aljehad police checkpoint when one of its tires got burst.
A motorcyclist and three bus passengers were killed in the accident. The deceased and the injured were shifted to the nearby hospitals in seven ambulances of Rescue 1122.
The injured included three women and 18 men. Those with minor injuries were given the first aid on the spot.
Three severely injured people had been taken to the Cantt hospital, while 17 others were shifted to the DHQ city hospital, Rescue 1122 stated.
