PSP activist killed in targetted attack
Two people were killed, and one was injured in separate firing incidents in the city
According to a spokesperson for PSP, a Pak Sarzamin Party (PSP) worker was killed, and his son was injured when unidentified shooters opened fire near Peela School in North Karachi on Thursday. The dead and wounded were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by ambulance. According to SP New Karachi Hameed Khan, the deceased was identified as Salman, son of Wakeel, while the injured eight-year-old Abdul Sabur is his son and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The victim, Salman, was travelling in a car and had come to pick up his son from school when the accused arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire on him and fled away. The victim was shot twice in the head while his son was shot in the hands and feet. Police were investigating the incident further. CCTV footage of the incident also surfaced in which two suspects riding a motorcycle can be seen chasing the victim. After targeting the victim, they are seen fleeing from the scene.
An elderly man was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Al-Khair School, Sherpao Colony, in the Quaidabad area. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.
SHO Quaidabad Malik Ashraf said that the victim was identified as Surkh Taj, son of Imran Khan. He was between 50 and 55 years of age. He was present near his house at the time of the incident when the suspects on a motorcycle arrived and fled after opening fire at him.
Police have seized two spent shells of a 30-bore pistol from the scene. The slain is the son of policeman Sikander, who is currently posted at Ibrahim Hyderi police station. According to preliminary information, the incident results from a personal feud. However, further investigation was underway.
In another incident, Ikramullah, son of Mahmood, 55, was injured in firing by unknown persons in the Khada Market area of Lyari. He was rushed to Dr Ruth K.M. Pfau Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
Police officials said that according to preliminary information, the incident was a result of resistance during a robbery. However, police are investigating the incident further.
