Railways Minister Azam Khan Swati has hinted at hiring professionals for the betterment of the department, saying that all-out efforts will be made to increase revenue of the railways. “Professionals should be hired if needed for the betterment of the department,” Swati said while presiding over a meeting at the PR Headquarters the other day.
A vivid change in the performance of the department was his desire, he said, directing the officers to serve the nation with dedication and commitment. The minister ordered the officers to take effective steps for the removal of hurdles on tracks and adopt a strategy to curb the trend of bogus passes and ticket dodgers.
He also ordered them to submit a weekly report on revenue.
He directed the executive director of Pakistan Railways Advisory and Consultancy Services Limited (PRACS), a sister organisation of the railways, to work with freedom for the betterment of the department.
He said that the best international practices should be followed to put the department on the path to progress.
Meanwhile, the minister paid a surprise visit to the Lahore Junction railway station and reviewed the facilities being provided to passengers.
