Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said on Thursday that the JI's sit-in has ended but its Karachi Rights Movement will continue.
The JI leader expressed these views while addressing a welcome reception in his honor at Orangi Town late on Wednesday night.
A large number of people representing various communities announced joining the JI after a meeting with Engr Naeemur Rehman.
Speaking on the occasion, the JI leader said that the city has been facing critical crises of water supply, sewerage, transportation, infrastructure and other civic matters.
He said that to resolve all the issues surrounding Karachi, the JI would engage all levels of governance, including the center.
He said that in the next phase, the JI will be taking up the matter of flawed census results and the formula under which the upcoming census will be held.
Karachi is returning to its originality, the JI leader said, adding that the 29-day long sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly building for the rights of Karachi and Karachiites set the future course of action for politics of the megalopolis.
JI leader Fazal Ahad Hanif, former MPA Hameedullah Khan Advocate and others also addressed the reception.
