The Karachi University Teachers' Association boycotted the teaching process at the university for an indefinite period, and a decision was taken at the General Teachers' Assembly meeting held on Thursday.
Per the decision, the secretary continued to boycott morning and evening classes and examinations at the University of Karachi against the position of universities and councils, the postponement of the Teachers Selection Board by them and their inattention to the Sindh government.
After the meeting Karachi University Teachers Association President Dr Shah Ali Al-Qadar told The Express Tribune that until the forcibly postponed selection board would not be reconvened, and the Secretary of universities and boards, Mureed Rapimo, would not be transferred, the teachers will continue their protest.
He said a meeting of the association would be held again next week to review the situation. He said that only the Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards, Ismail Rahu, had contacted the Secretary of the teachers' association, Dr Mohsin. However, He was also unaware of the matter.
It should be noted that the Karachi University Teachers' Association had started its protest when classes for the new academic session at Karachi University started only 15 days ago. After a prolonged closure of classes due to the coronavirus pandemic, this is the first time that classes have started regularly.
