Security forces seize arms, ammunition during North Waziristan IBO

IEDs, sub-machine guns, hand grenades and hundreds of multiple calibre rounds also recovered during raid, says ISPR

Security forces on Thursday conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district on reports of a terrorists' hideout in the Ghulam Khan Khel area, the military said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during search of the area, a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered from the hideout.

"Recovered weapons and ammunition include sub-machine guns, hand grenades, RPG-7 rockets, IEDs, material used in the preparation of IEDs, communication equipment and hundreds of multiple calibre rounds," ISPR further said.

On January 18, two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire during an IBO in the Thal area of the district.

"Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of terrorists," the ISPR said in a statement issued this evening.

"During intense exchange of fire, two terrorists, Ghayoor and Bahauddin got killed," it added. "A large number of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the terrorists."

On December 31, at least four soldiers were martyred and one terrorist was arrested during an IBO in North Waziristan.
