Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday visited Idara Noor-e-Haq to take the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on board in connection with the implementation of agreement signed between the two sides at the culmination of the 29-day sit-in over the issue of local government empowerment.
The chief minister, while talking to the media after the meeting, hailed the JI for exercising its democratic right of peaceful protest. He said that the provincial cabinet has approved to amend the local government Act in accordance to the agreement with the JI.
He said that a committee, under chair of Sindh Local Bodies Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, has been constituted for amendments in the law and the committee will be presenting its output within a couple of weeks.
He said that the JI had expressed reservations over the law and the PPP had made it clear that the government was open for dialogue.

The chief minister said that the government supports the demand of the JI for 650 million gallon per day supply for Karachi and would play its due role by taking up the matter with the federal government.
JI Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman welcomed the CM and the developments following the agreement between the two sides.
He said that the JI stands firm on its principle stance. He welcomed the developments by the Sindh government and said that dialogue will continue over the remaining demands of the JI.
