FAISALABAD:

Pakistan and Spain are enjoying cordial business relations and both sides should make efforts to enhance bilateral trade, said Ambassador of Spain to Pakistan Manuel Durán Giménez-Rico.

Speaking to a delegation of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Wednesday, Rico appreciated the efforts of the government of Pakistan in combating Covid-19 pandemic. He said that the country adopted best strategies to overcome the impacts of Covid-19 while it dented the global economy.

“We must make collaborated efforts to revisit our policies with a focus on bilateral trade,” he added.

While appreciating the Pakistan Economic Conference, that will be conducted by the chamber, he said it would play a major role in attracting huge amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) for expeditious industrial growth in Pakistan.

He assured the businessmen of making all out efforts to contact and convince Spanish investors to participate in the scheduled Pakistan Economic Conference.

“It will provide them with an opportunity to personally visit the M3 and Allama Iqbal industrial estates and explore the emerging investment opportunities in this region,” he stated. He hoped that the investors would establish high-tech industrial units in the two special economic zones.

Speaking on the occasion, FCCI President Atif Munir Sheikh said that more than 100,000 Pakistani expatriates were playing their role in the overall development of Spain and they were also cementing bilateral relations.

He highlighted that the current trade volume between Pakistan and Spain was around $1.3 billion and underlined the need to initiate necessary steps to double it over the next few years.
