ISLAMABAD:

The Senate would dedicate its session on Friday to discuss the Kashmir issue, in order to express solidarity with the people of India's Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani told the upper house of parliament on Tuesday.

At the onset of the session, leader of the house Dr Shehzad Waseem said on a point of order that Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed on February 5 every year and suggested that normal proceedings should be suspended Friday to discuss the Kashmir issue.

The chair said that Friday –the eve of the Kashmir Solidarity Day – was set aside for discussion on the Kashmir issue. He added that he had written a letter to the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for convening a meeting of the Senate in Muzaffarabad on February 5.
