Foreign funding case to hound PM, predicts Ahsan

The ruling party’s chief political rival, PML-N, on Tuesday sharpened its attack on the government for rising prices of the conveniences and “fake accountability cases”.

Speaking to media, PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal said that time was not far when foreign funding cases will be opened against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Ahsan Iqbal alleged that the government has made the lives of 220 million people miserable, saying that it was ironical a man who vowed to not take recourse to the IMF for bailouts has ended up mortgaging the State Bank of Pakistan to the global money lender.

The former planning and development minister claimed the nation was seeking answers for the discrepancies in the income tax of the prime minister, saying the amount the latter paid in taxes increased manifold after coming into power.

“I personally want to ask the former CJP Saqib Nisar as to why he declared a man ‘sadiq’ and ‘ameen’ when he could not even account for his taxes and gifts.”

He went on to say the revolution of CPEC has been ruined by the ruling party and claimed its flawed economic policies discouraged massive investments from China.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government of using “fake accountability cases” as a pretext for its anti-corruption drive to attack the opposition.

He cast aspersions on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal for being “biased”, saying the latter was a “daily wager whose accountability was only reserved for the opposition”.

The PML-N leader said that advisors of prime minister are fleeing the country but one day they will also be held accountable.
