RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal directed the authorities concerned to complete projects in Kotli Sattian within the shortest possible timeframe as the government is striving to make it an attractive tourist destination.

He visited Kotli Sattian on Monday and reviewed development projects. The commissioner said that the government was taking solid steps to make the town a tourist spot. “This would also help reduce congestion in Murree,” he added.

Timely completion of development schemes was a foremost priority, so that the living standards of the locals could be improved, he added. He said that the provincial government was chalking out a plan to improve the area and identify tourism sites.

“There are several potential tourist sites in Kotli Sattian, but there is a need to improve the condition of the roads and greenbelts, install benches and take measures to protect the forest cover,” he added. “The government has prepared a plan to attract the visitors and ensure facilities,” he said.

The commissioner directed the authorities concerned to renovate the tourist spots, install entry gates, benches with umbrellas, sign boards, dust bins and provide several other facilities. He also asked for rest houses in the town to be upgraded. He added that through tourism, the living standards of the local residents could also be uplifted and they would get opportunities to earn their livelihood.

Mengal visited Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital and checked medicine stocks and services being provided to patients. He directed the relevant authorities to equip the hospital with the latest medical facilities so that the local population and the tourists could be provided with the best medical facilities.

The commissioner expressed satisfaction over cleanliness in the area.

He also appreciated the performance of the Medical Superintendent. Local representatives like Kotli Sattian Assistant Commissioner Abdur Rehman and several other officials were also present.
