Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has asked for an extension of service of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officers for one more year as the three-year deputation comes to an end.
The recommendation, forwarded to Establishment Division, states that the need for extending the period of deputation comes as the national carrier seeks administrative experts and therefore, the extension for another year was required.
The officers for whom the extension has been sought include Air Commodore Jawad Zafar Chaudhry, Air Commodore Amir Altaf and Squadron Leader Muhammad Adeel.
The term of appointment of Air Commodore Jawad Zafar Chaudhry and Squadron Leader Muhammad Adeel in PIA had ended this month while the deputation of Air Commodore Amir Altaf will end next month.
Earlier, the prime minister had given approval for the deputation of employees on the summary of the Establishment Division.
New appointments cannot be made due to restrictions on Supreme Court orders.
In 2019, the PIA had inducted PAF officers to steer the cash-strapped airline in the right direction.

The officers, who were deputed for a period between one and three years, were supposed to oversee procession engineering, chief executive secretariat, and information technology.
The responsibilities of budgeting, food services, PAC projects, finance and the HR department had been also handed over to them in order to improve the airline's performance.
