‘Enough with delays’: Hadiqa Kiani demands justice for Noor Mukadam

Actor, singer lashed out at the justice system for failing to deliver a verdict even after all this time.

Singer and actor Hadiqa Kiani has had enough of justice being delayed in the Noor Mukadam case and taking to social media on Tuesday, she slammed the justice system for failing to deliver it despite the evidence already collected against the prime accused.  

The investigation officer Abdul Sattar on Monday told the trial court that in the forensic report, fingerprints of Zahir Jaffer were not found on the weapon recovered from the crime scene nor did his pants contain blood stains at the time of his arrest.

Kiani tweeted, “Enough is enough. Another day and another obscene abuse of power, evidence and victim blaming. Noor Mukadam’s story shall not be forgotten and we demand justice. We demand it now!” The Raqeeb Se actor continued, “Enough with the delays, the excuses and the insanity.”

In response to another user’s tweet calling on the courts to pass a verdict soon, Kiani tweeted, “Verdict sunao so we can know if we should take to the streets! Sick of the publicity for his charade, sick of seeing his face every day. I refuse to even say his name. Not worth it. All we want is justice for Noor. All we want is safety for our girls!”

Noor, 28, was brutally murdered in an upscale neighbourhood in Islamabad in July last year. A meeting under the chairmanship of Inspector General of police (IGP) Islamabad Mohammad Ahsan Younus confirmed that strong and sufficient evidence has already been collected against Zahir, a local publication reported Tuesday.

But Abdul Sattar, the investigation officer (IO) told the trial court on Monday that the ‘site map’ neither shows the presence of Zahir at the crime scene, nor does it show the basement and the entry or exit to the basement of the house. The court also learnt that Column 7 of the inquest report mentions no signs of any cuts on the clothes of the deceased. The two remands granted on July 21, and July 24 do not mention the recovery of anything from the crime scene either.

"I didn't get the torn-out clothes of the deceased, her handbag, or any other belongings which I had seen in the CCTV footage,” said Sattar, declaring that he did not record the statement of any person from the neighbourhood nor did he get the CCTV footage from the neighbouring house.
