Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar launched the expansion of the Rescue 1122 service to 79 tehsils of the province on Tuesday.
The chief minister handed over the keys of 22 new ambulances to the emergency officers of 11 tehsils at a ceremony held at CM's Office.
The rescue service has initially been started in Sharqpur Sharif, Safdarabad, Narang Mandi, Nowshera Virkan, Nurpur, Quaidabad, Kahror Pakka, Renala Khurd, Pindi Bhattian, Darya Khan and Jalalpur Pirwala tehsils.
Each tehsil-level rescue station will have two ambulances and a 29-member staff.
Chief Minister Buzdar said on the occasion that new ambulances had been provided for timely emergency services and rescue stations had been built in 79 tehsils and towns.

He said the emergency services would be launched in all the 79 tehsils by June.
To streamline the emergency services, a service structure has been devised for the promotion of rescuers, he noted.
The chief minister said Punjab would be the first province to introduce a rescue air ambulance service. This would extend the availability of emergency medical assistance to remote areas. Every life is precious and timely treatment is the right of every person, the CM underscored.
