Microsoft Office

Microsoft 360 contains all the essential applications every person requires, whether in school or work, to use Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. However, these applications are quite expensive and cost up to $70 a year. To get the free version of the apps, you can sign up for their student and teacher discount if you're eligible, or use their free versions online by logging in with your Microsoft ID.

For students and teachers

If you're a teacher or a school faculty member, you are eligible to apply for a free version of the application. You can sign up to get access to Word, Powerpoint, Excel, OneNote, Microsoft Teams, and other additional tools. By typing in your school email address, Microsoft will quickly verify your ID, in most cases, and grant you access to all the apps. In some cases, Microsoft may have to verify your institution and can take up to a month to confirm.

Recent graduates are eligible to apply for a 12-month discount costing only $12, using their school email address.

For other people

Besides signing for their free trial versions, you can also use the free version of the apps by logging on to Office.com and logging in with your Microsoft email address. With this you can use a number of the apps for free online, but their features may be limited, and can only be used through a web browser when you're online. However, the basic versions of the apps will work and will allow you to share links and collaborate with colleagues in real time.
