65 complaints lodged against delimitation

RAWALPINDI:

Sixty-five objections have been lodged in the office of Appellate Authority Regional Election Commissioner Rawalpindi Nazar Abbas against increasing the number of neighbourhood councils (union councils) from 50 to 100 in the new delimitation of Islamabad Metropolitan Municipal Corporation.

The hearing of these objections will start on Monday, January 24. The hearing will continue till February 7.

The Appellate Authority has issued notices to all the former chairmen and political workers who have filed objections and also sought a complete record of the new constituencies.

Applet Authority Regional Election Commissioner sources told Express that these objections have been filed by the councillors and former chairmen of the suburban union councils of Bhara Kahu, Bari Imam, Tarlai, Sang Jani, Karpa, Tarnol, Golra, Sihala and Rawat.

Following the hearing of the objections, the final list of constituencies for the new neighbourhood councils will be released on February 16.

Each new neighbourhood council of Islamabad has been divided into 4 blocks while the pace of work to set delimitations of new neighbourhood councils and village councils have also been increased in Rawalpindi District.

The work of new zoning in Punjab and Rawalpindi will be completed in 2 weeks.
