LAHORE:

The neighbours of the woman doctor, Naheed Mubarak, and her children who had been found murdered in their bedroom in Kahna have been deeply perturbed over the incident, and they just don’t know how to make sense of what has happened.

They all want to ask why the woman doctor and her children were murdered.

A tenant living on the same floor of the building where Dr Naheed Mubarak was found dead along with her son Taimoor Sultan, 21, daughter Mahnoor, 15, and eight-year-old girl Jannat, said she had moved to this building just a month ago after her marriage.

She told The Express Tribune outside her house that right at the floor beneath her apartment did the doctor and her children lived right there they died.

The tenant whose face clearly showed signs of tension as her brother and husband had been released a few hours before after spending some time in police custody for investigations.

“Naheed was strict with her children. However, Jannat was her most favourite child. Jannat happened to be her adopted daughter,” the neighbour said.

“I just came to know yesterday (on day of the incident) that Jannat Fatima was an adopted child,” says another resident of the locality standing next to her. Zain the child who survived had met a severe accident two days back. She had told her son a few hours before the murder to go downstairs and start the car as they had to go somewhere for an urgent work.

He started the engine of the car and waited for some time. When his mother did not show up, he went to a nearby room which his mother had been using for to take a nap.

She due to tiredness and medicine had gone to sleep.
