KARACHI:

A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) has acquitted two suspects in a rape case for lack of evidence.

Special Court No12 of the Anti-Terrorism Complex at the Karachi Central Jail announced its verdict in the rape case. The court granted the plea to classify the case as B class and acquitted Abdul Jabbar and Muhammad Raza. The court ruled that if the suspects were not required in any other case, they may be immediately released.

According to the police, their DNA samples could not be matched with that of the victim. The rape case was registered by complainant Khush Naseeb at Gadap City Police Station in 2021. In the FIR, the victim had claimed that the accused had entered the house and raped her.

Samples of the suspects were sent to forensic labs in Karachi and Lahore. No evidence was found against the suspects in both the reports.
