Govt to tighten Covid SOPs across province

980 new coronavirus cases have been reported during past 24 hours

In wake of fifth wave coronavirus cases, the Punjab government has decided to tighten enforcement of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the province.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman has expressed concern over the increase in coronavirus patients and ordered authorities concerned to ensure strict implementation of safety SOPs in the province, especially in urban centres.

During a meeting with Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Tuesday, Buzdar underlined the need for more careful behaviour of citizens. He directed Punjab Health Department to continue its sensitisation campaign and the process of administering booster doses to citizens be expedited as the door-to-door vaccination facility is provided by the government.

Latest coronavirus statistics issued by the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Punjab highlight that 980 new coronavirus cases have been reported during the past 24 hours. It shows the total number of coronavirus cases have reached 453,473 out of which 430,712 patients have been recovered and discharged from hospitals. Right now, the total number of active cases are 10,637 in Punjab and one citizen lost life during the past 24 hours after which a total number of coronavirus related causalities have touched 13,088.

Data shows that the highest number of 759 coronavirus cases are reported in Lahore, followed by Rawalpindi 107, Multan 25, Sialkot 13, Faisalabad 12, Gujranwala 10, Bahawalpur 8, Chakwal 7, Gujrat and Sheikhupura 6, Narowal and Okara 4 and Sahiwal and Nankana Sahib 3 during past 24 hours.
