Aamir Liaquat blames 'ungrateful, independent' women for rise in divorces

The popular host puts the onus of the rise in khula in the country on 'willfulness, disobedience, hearsay'

Popular TV personality and PTI leader Aamir Liaquat Hussain is known for making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Be it his turbulent marriages, head-turning antics onscreen or his problematic statements, the famous host truly knows how to stay in the limelight. 

Aamir is also an avid Twitter user and his tweets often irk social media users for certain stances. Recently, his take on the rising rate of khula (divorces) in the country has caused an uproar on the micro-blogging website. 

Taking to Twitter, Aamir without quoting sources, wrote, "In one year, 100,000 women approached the courts for khula and more than ten thousand khula degrees were issued!"

Blaming the 'modern women' for the rise in the number of divorces, he reasoned certain traits in society should be held accountable. "Willfulness, disobedience, ungratefulness, hearsay, advice from friends and mothers, indifference and the false hopes created by media lead to khula," he commented, adding, "But this creates an otherworldly vacuum, which is called remorse."

While Aamir turned off the replies to his tweet, many responded to his troublesome take in quote tweets.

In 2018, Aamir announced his second marriage to Tuba Aamir. However, the MNA had received severe criticism over his marriage after a tweet by his daughter from his first marriage went viral on social media. Liaquat has finally responded after many criticised him for not taking care of his first family.

"Since the news of my marriage broke on social media, it feels like I've committed a grave sin," he could be seen saying in a three-minute-long video. "All I want to say in this regard is that whoever has been reporting about my personal life, let me just say that it is not only highly inappropriate, it's wrong."

He had further added, "No one came and ask me what happened or what the actual story was. How can you interfere in someone's personal life? Who gave you the right. I don't disclose my personal affairs publicly and I would like that to stay that way."
