‘Punjab holds key role in tourism promotion’

IUB hosts 8th national agri-tourism conference

BAHAWALPUR:

Directorate of Sustainable Tourism the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) and Agri-Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan jointly organised the 8th National Agri-Tourism Conference on Monday.

Chief guest of the conference Vice Chancellor Dr Athar Mahboob said the region has a lot to offer in terms of tourism. He said the IUB will provide all possible support for the promotion of tourism and for this purpose, the university have established the Directorate of Sustainable Tourism, which is continuing to work for the development of the tourism sector.

He said organising such events will benefit not only our students but also the business community in the region. Dr Javed Iqbal, former principal of Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur, said that our youth is rich with different capabilities.

He said Punjab was very important in terms of tourism.

Iqbal said that our youth and farmers need to be given opportunities as much as they work hard. “Our farmers are playing a massive to improve Pakistan's economic development. I have witnessed that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has made this journey very fast in the last few years, said Javed Iqbal.

Focal Person and Director IUB-DOST Salman Mehmood Qureshi said the IUB is the first university in Pakistan in which the Directorate of Sustainable Tourism has been established.
