Killer of daughter remanded in judicial custody

Court summons the investigation officer at the next hearing

KARACHI:

The East Judicial Magistrate sent a suspect to jail on judicial remand in a case pertaining to the murder of his real daughter in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

East Judicial Magistrate Niaz Hussain in the Karachi City Court heard the case of alleged murder. Police produced arrested accused Zainul Abidin alias Doctor in the court. The court sent the suspect to jail on judicial remand.

The court summoned the investigation officer at the next hearing.

According to police, the accused shot and killed his daughter on November 17 and became a complainant in the case he got registered against unidentified suspects. The suspect killed his daughter on suspicion of having illicit relation with the neighbour.

The accused kept trying to mislead the police by narrating different stories. The police managed to unearth the facts by carefully examining the real motives of the murder on technical grounds.

The spent shell of the bullet found at the scene was fired from the pistol of the accused. During the interrogation, the accused has also confessed his involvement in the murder.

A case has been registered against the accused in Sharea Faisal police station.

Hearing adjourned in corruption reference

An accountability court adjourned the hearing in the reference pertaining to millions of rupees corruption in the Culture and Tourism Department (CTD) due to the absence of the counsel for the main accused.

The main accused in the reference, former MD Sindh Tourism Roshan Kanasro, and other suspects appeared in the Karachi-based accountability court. Makhdoom Gulzar, a NAB reference witness, also appeared in the court. However, the counsel of the main accused could not appear in the court.

Lawyer Mujtaba Abro stated that Mian Ali Ashfaq is out of the country and cannot appear. Mian Ali Ashfaq will cross-examine the statement of NAB witness. The court adjourned the hearing till January 24.

The accountability court fixed the bail application of co-accused Murtaza Dawood Pota for January 12. According to NAB, the suspects caused a loss of over Rs48.5 million to the national exchequer.
