SITE Super Highway Police arrested a suspect on charges of killing a policeman and injuring another during a confrontation. On January 1, two suspects killed policeman Barkat Ali and injured Constable Muhammad Anwar during a confrontation near Faqira Goth Chand Bangla area of SITE Superhighway Industrial Area.
Under the supervision of SDPO Sohrab Goth DSP Sohail Faiz, the SITE Super Highway Police conducted an intelligence-based raid and arrested Ehsanullah and recovered weapons, ammunition and a snatched motorcycle from his possession.
According to Sohail Faiz, the accused has also confessed to his involvement in other crimes including robbery.
Police are conducting raids to nab other accomplices of the arrested accused.
Two bodies found
Two men found dead mysteriously in different parts of the city, while one man, who was found in a state of semi-consciousness in New Karachi, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
A man was found unconscious on the side of a road in Fatima Jinnah Colony area of North Karachi and was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. However, he died during the treatment.
According to police, the deceased could not be immediately identified. He is said to be in his 50s. Preliminary investigations, however, revealed that the deceased had fallen down while walking and died of natural causes. Further investigation was underway.
Separately, body of a man was found on the sidewalk near Allahwala Chowrangi, Tariq Road, in Ferozabad area. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Sattar, 58. Rescue officials said the deceased died of natural causes. However, Ferozeabad police were conducting further investigations.
Furthermore, the body of a man, who died mysteriously, was also found at an empty plot near Touheed Commercial of Khayaban-e-Tanzeem in Defense Housing Authority area.
