Mild rain disrupts power supply in Hyderabad
A slight winter rainfall, which was recorded at 15 millimeter by Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), in Hyderabad plunged the city in darkness besides also exposing poor sewerage system of Water and Sanitation Agency.
The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) claimed that 106 electricity feeders of 11 KV were shut down to prevent incidents of electrocution during the rain. However, the darkness in entire city suggested otherwise.
The drizzling started around 10 pm on Tuesday and it turned into a moderate downpour by around 2 am on Wednesday.
The residents from many localities complained that though the power supply was restored, unscheduled outages continued through Wednesday.

Areas including Latifabad, Qasimabad and City taluka are facing power suspension for several hours due to continuous rains. According to report, 15 mm rain was recorded in the city which caused disruption to normal life and mostly city roads inundated.
HESCO CEO Noor Ahmed Soomro, Chief Operating Officer Abdul Raheem Soomro, SE Nisar Ahmed Memon and other officers also visited Grid Stations of Qasimabad and Latifabad and monitored power supply efforts.
