KARACHI: Staff members of Emirates in Karachi celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day at Jinnah Hospital’s National Institute of Child Health (NICH) with children, a statement said on Wednesday. They spent time with the children under treatment at NICH and made donations to the institute, it said. The statement added that they also distributed national flags and gifts among the children. Also, the local Emirates centre was decorated with national flags of different sizes. Every cabin had a large number of green and white balloons, it said. Speaking on the occasion, the vice president of Emirates for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Badar Abbas, said that the first flight that Emirates operated was Karachi-bound. “Many Pakistanis are part of Emirates’ local and international staff today. We’re happy to join Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations,” he said. Emirates operates 39 flights in Pakistan every week.
