Cops charged with murder sent on judicial remand

Court adjourns the case till January 7

The policemen charged with killing a man in a fake encounter were sent to jail on judicial remand after completion of interrogation during the physical remand. The Judicial Magistrate of the East district approved the jail custody of the suspects named in the Korangi, Mehran Town, fake police encounter. A resident of Korangi was allegedly gunned down by cops near his home late on December 20 night. Three policemen were arrested after the case of murder of a youth in another fake police encounter in Korangi Mehran Town was registered against them. The cops shot and injured Wasif Riaz, 33, as he was walking towards his home, seconds before he had texted, "mom, I am coming home, keep dinner ready."

They took the critically injured Riaz to police station instead of hospital. Only after the intervention of PTI MNA and MPA of the area, police shift Riaz to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, but he died on the way. The was registered on the complaint of Kashif Riaz, brother of the deceased, against three policemen at the Korangi Industrial Area Police Station.

Police produced the three accused in court on completion of physical remand.

The accused include Danish, Zeeshan, and Farhan.

The court sent the accused to jail on judicial remand and directed the investigating officer to present the challan of the case at the next hearing.

The court adjourned the case till January 7.
