Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal, during his visit to Dera Ghazi Khan border check post, directed the administration, police and border military police to verify vehicles carrying fertiliser at the check-posts to thwart smuggling bids.

The chief secretary said coordinated efforts of the administration, police, border military police and agriculture department have put an end to the illegal transportation of fertilisers out of the province. He directed the officers to verify vehicles carrying fertiliser at the check-posts through the online portal, besides continuing the strict checking of trucks leaving the province.

Afzal visited border check-posts in Dera Ghazi Khan to review the steps being taken to curb fertilizers smuggling. He inspected Sakhi Sarwar, Rakhi Gauj and Bawata check-posts and reviewed the arrangements there.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief secretary said that after registering an FIR, the confiscated fertilizer should be sold in the market at a fixed price.

Political Assistant Ikram Malik briefed the chief secretary that 2,469 bags of urea fertiliser that were being illegally transported out of the province were seized at the Sakhi Sarwar check-post and were sold at the fixed price in the areas of Choti Zerin, Shah Sadar Din and Jhok Uotra.
