Police open probe into teenager’s death

Call in nearby factory owner, workers for identification parade

KARACHI:

Police have registered a case in connection with the body of a girl found at a house in Orangi Town.

The case was registered under the provisions for murder on the complaint of the deceased Anusha's father, Muhammad Akhtar.

The body of 13-yearold Anusha, who was strangled to death, was found inside a house in Pakistan Bazaar area of Orangi Town on Saturday.

Her neck bone was also broken. Pakistan Bazaar SHO Akhlaq Ahmed said that case was registered on Sunday under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim's father who did not nominate anyone in the case

After registering the case, the police conducted raids in different areas of Orangi Town in the light of disclosures by eyewitnesses, Akhtar's younger sons, but no arrest was made immediately.

The SHO said that a factory was also located near the victim's house. Police have called the factory owner and to the police station today (Monday) along with all the employees for an identification parade.

Police are also investigating leads provided by the neighbourhood people about suspicious persons.

The SHO further said that the statements of the victim's friends would also be recorded and in the light of this the investigation would be taken further.

He vowed that the case would be settled soon and the accused would be sent behind bars. Body of, Anusha Akhtar, 13, was found hanging at her home in Orangi Town.

SHO Ahmed said there was a headscarf wrapped around the neck of the deceased girl. At the time of the incident, the deceased and her younger siblings were at home. Her grandmother also lives in the neighbourhood saw the body of the girl, she opened the noose around her neck.

Her father is a carpenter who was not at home at the time of the incident. The deceased's mother died three months ago due to illness after which the children lived alone in the house.
