Covid cases declining across Punjab: Healthcare secretary

Secretary urges populace to follow SOPs

Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Punjab Imran Sikandar Baloch on Sunday has said that a significant decline is being witnessed in the coronavirus cases across the province.

In a statement, he said that special standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been issued for various sectors to bring about a further decrease in Covid-19 cases.

He urged the general public to maintain social distancing, wear masks and contact 1033 for any guidance or complaints.

According to the government's official Covid portal, Pakistan recorded a total of 358 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday, whereas two more fatalities were also recorded.

Pakistan has so far recorded a total of 1,293,440 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic started.

At least 28,907 people have succumbed to the infection, while as many as 1,254,859 have recovered. 446 people have recovered in the past 24 hours.

A total of 23,148,807 tests have been conducted across the country, with 52,050 done in the last 24 hours.

Moreover, a total of 92,086,806 first doses of the anti-Covid jab have been administered, with 771,159 being administered in the past 24 hours.

65,149,948 people are fully vaccinated, with 841,430 getting their second dose of the vaccine in the past day.
