
Over 6,000 police officers and officials will perform duty on Christmas and Quaid e Azan Day eve this year.
Under the devised Christmas security plan, the personnel including divisional SSPs, SDPOs, SHOs would be deputed at different churches of the city as well as parks and important public places, CCPO Lahore Fayyaz Ahmad Dev said.
“We will ensure the security of churches, markets and recreational places situated near Christian worship places,” he added.
He further directed the officers to implement the security plan for churches and parks under their own supervision by deputing snipers and commandos for the security of ‘A category’ churches.
The CCPO said monitoring through CCTV cameras of sensitive churches, besides search and checking of citizens using walkthrough-gates and metal detectors will also be ensured.
The Lahore police chief said three-layered security would be in place for all the persons visiting churches and parks on Christmas eve.
He further said teams of the Elite Force, Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit and also police stations will ensure effective patrolling around these churches, Christmas Bazaars and residential areas of the Christmas community.
Search and sweep operations have already been conducted on regular
basis in and around churches and Christian residential areas.

Vehicles and persons are also being checked at Exit and Entrance Points of the city.
Persons visiting churches on December 24 and Christmas Eve to attend religious sermons and other activities will only be allowed to enter after complete identification and thorough checking.
He directed concerned Police officers and administration of churches to ensure the use of walk-through gates and metal detectors at churches premises.
He further informed that additional force will also be deputed on related parks and recreational places including eight big parks of the city on Christmas and Quaid-i-Azam Day.
On the occasion, Dev congratulated the Christian community including Christian Police employees of different wings of Lahore Police on the eve of Christmas.
He also expressed solidarity with the Christian Community on Christmas eve and said that Lahore Police is a partner with the Christian Community and Christian police personnel in the festivities and delights of Christmas.
He said Christian police employees are part and parcel of the Police Force, performing duties shoulder to shoulder with their Muslim colleagues.
Fayyaz Ahmad Dev also acknowledged the splendid services of Christian police personnel for maintenance of peace, protection of citizens, crime control and community policing.
The CCPO said, “we are proud of our number of police personnel belonging to the Christian community who laid their lives in the line of duty for the protection of life and property of the citizens.”
