Balochistan to take action against absent LHWs

The meeting was attended by a large number of participants from different organizations

Provincial Health Minister Syed Ehsan Shah has said that strict action will be taken against those lady health workers (LHWs) who will be absent from duty.

He added that the health department was using all available resources to control maternal and child mortality in collaboration with the Balochistan government partners. “Providing facilities in remote areas of the province, especially during pregnancy and maternity, is one of the top priorities of the government,” Ehsan Shah said.

“There is no shortage of manpower. Immediate action will be taken against lady health workers working in all districts who are absent from duty,” said the minister.

He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of Provincial Population Task Force (PPTF). Secretary Health Noorul Haq Baloch, Secretary P&D Abdullah Noorzai, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Imran Gichki, DG Population Muhammad Gul, Director Health Provincial Head MNCH Program Dr Ismail Mirwani and Deputy Director MNCH Program Dr Sarmad Saeed Khan were also present on the occasion.

The meeting was attended by a large number of participants from different organizations.

The meeting reviewed the health of mothers and children, maternal mortality in depth and gave a full briefing to the Provincial Minister for Health.

“At the same time, monitoring is needed to provide modern healthcare facilities to the women and children of their village and community so that maternal and child mortality rates can be reduced,” he said.
