The finale: Inside Junaid Safdar, Ayesha Saif Khan’s Valima

The festivities came to an end at Jati Umrah, the Sharif family’s home right outside Lahore.

After a week of crooning to wedding songs, dressing to the nines, and extravagant décor at Junaid Safdar and his wife Ayesha Saif Khan’s wedding, the festivities came to a close with Friday night’s Valima event. The event took place at Jati Umrah, the Sharif family’s home right outside Lahore.

Presumably the biggest wedding of the season, the events consisted of musical evenings and qawwali nights, a traditional Mayoun and Mehendi ceremony followed by a lavish wedding reception, and a bittersweet end with a Valima. No event was shy of shimmering outfits and flashy event décor – full of chandeliers and floral carnations.

The couple tied the knot in a grand Nikkah in London earlier this year in August. However, the duo has been in the country to celebrate their wedding with family, friends and political fraternity.

The guests

As expected, the who's who of Pakistan's political landscape and showbiz attended Junaid and Ayesha wedding festivities. PML-N president, Shehbaz Sharif was also present at the family wedding. Party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb and MPA Azma Bukhari among other party members also attended the royal affair.

The clothes

Junaid kept it rather simple throughout his wedding celebrations. During most of his events, he was seen sporting a waistcoat with an ivory shalwar kameez and leather shoes. Adding a pop of colour, compared to his previous outfits, the groom opted for a Faraz Manan outfit for the Valima. Manan maintained the minimal choice of Junaid, despite his traditional style, and created a taupe-coloured sherwani with gold buttons on it. Despite the understated look, Junaid looked handsome as ever.

The bride Ayesha Saif, on the other hand, ditched the traditional colours and looked stunning in a mint-green ensemble that she teamed with a tea-pink dupatta. Her heavily embellished outfit was from a Karachi-based design house, Menahel and Mehreen. With Anam Farooq Khan’s soft and minimal makeup, she completed her look with intricate diamond jewellery.

The PMLN-N Vice president, being the style icon that she is, made a fashion statement yet again last night in a heavily embellished Prussian blue angarkha by designer Nida Azwer. To accessorise, she chose a gold necklace studded with gemstones and diamonds and looked gorgeous in her subtle soft party makeup. Makeup artist Sehrish shared a selfie on her Instagram page, taking pride and pleasure in “dolling Maryam up.” She definitely did a great job.

While, PMLN- president, Shehbaz Sharif looked dapper in a dark-coloured suit and a red tie.
