LAHORE:

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Punjab for Information (SACM) Hasaan Khawar has said Punjab will stand tall as the true champion of democracy, delegation of powers and the governance model when compared with Sindh's local government laws.

He said Punjab's local government system will empower women and persons with disabilities in elections. He was addressing a press conference at Alhamra along with Minister for Local Government Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed.

He advised Murad Ali Shah to focus on Sindh as the present wind of change will only suit the one who would deliver better.

Khawar further said the local government system of Punjab will be well-organised and ideal in which services will be delivered and problems of the people would be solved at their doorsteps in a real sense.

This law would prove to be a historic law in which the emerging authorities would be fully empowered and autonomous, and would be able to make their own decisions, the SACM added.

He further stated that the implementation of a new local body system is a big achievement of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in which, for the first time in the history of Punjab, local bodies representatives will be directly elected. Never before in the history of Punjab has there been such a sound and autonomous system, he added.
