DG Fisheries office shifted to Gwadar to pacify protestors

GWADAR:

Chief Secretary Balochistan Matahar Niaz Rana has said the headquarters of DG Fisheries has been immediately shifted from Quetta to Gwadar to solve the problems of fishermen.

In addition, the Fisheries Department and other agencies have stepped up patrols to curb illegal trawling in Balochistan’s coastal areas.

On Monday, a high-level meeting, held in Gwadar in this regard under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Balochistan Matahar Niaz Rana, reviewed the issue and mulled over measures to prevent illegal fishing.

It was decided in the meeting that the project director's office of the new international airport under construction would be shifted to Gwadar and the next project director would sit in his office in Gwadar.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Makran Division Shabbir Mengal, Chairman Gwadar Port Naseer Khan Kashani, Director General Gwadar Development Authority Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Captain (retd) Jamil Ahmed Baloch and other senior officials.

Addressing the meeting, the chief secretary said that the issue of supply of clean drinking water in Gwadar has been resolved and the projects on which work is in full swing will be completed soon.

The chief secretary expressed frustration at the meeting that the officers were not using their abilities properly.

He directed the officers to use all their abilities to provide basic facilities to the people and take steps for the welfare of the people.

The Chief Secretary said that in the light of special orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the problems of Gwadar are being solved immediately under which a complete ban on illegal fishing trawlers has been imposed.

The headquarters of DG Fisheries has been immediately shifted from Quetta to Gwadar to solve the problems of fishermen.

He said that the government was trying to provide basic amenities to the people at their doorsteps for which immediate steps were being taken.

The meeting immediately directed Gwadar to provide the fire brigade.
