Two POs killed in Peshawar police encounter

Police launched a systematic crackdown against the extortionists in the three districts

PESHAWAR:

Two Afghan proclaimed offenders (PO) were killed in what police called an encounter on the outskirts of Peshawar on Sunday.

Police said that both the POs were real brothers and wanted to police in at least 13 different cases including murder, attempted murder and extortion. One bike and two pistols were recovered from their possession.

“These two brothers killed their father and uncle and another man at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and they had Pakistani CNICs along with Afghan documents,” said CCPO Peshawar Abass Ahsan during a press conference at Malik Saad Police Lines Sunday.

He said that police had launched a systematic crackdown against the extortionists in the three districts.

“Police received information that two POs were hiding at a house in Nasir Bagh following which a police party raided the house but both the outlaws managed to escape after they injured a policeman,” he said, adding that after their escape they reached Pishtakhara and entered a graveyard to hid there.

“Police was once again informed following which the entire graveyard was surrounded and the POs were asked to surrender but they opened fire at police and both were killed in the return fire,” he said, adding that these two brothers had made lives miserable for local traders who received constant threats and extortion calls from them.
