Prosecution dept cell to monitor lynching case

Punjab Law Minister Basharat Raja has ordered submission of challan of the Sialkot incident in which a Siri Lankan national was killed over allegations of blasphemy.
The minister issued directives for the constitution of a special cell in the prosecution department for daily monitoring of the case.
Presiding over a meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order on Thursday, the minister condemned the recent incidents of lynching in Sialkot and humiliation of women in Faisalabad.
The Gujranwala regional police officer briefed the participants about the ongoing investigation.
The participants also discussed a proposal for daily trial of the Sialkot case in jail.
The committee ordered strict action against those involved in stripping and torturing some women allegedly over suspicion of theft.

The minister instructed police officials to launch a crackdown against fake vehicle number plates, tinted windows, and blue and flash lights. He also ordered strict implementation of anti-kite flying laws.
The meeting also discussed a proposal to establish a new provincial control room ‘911’ under the Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
