13 grid stations under construction in merged districts

Work on the largest 300 MW Balakot Hydropower Project

Chief Engineer Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (PEDO) Naeem Khan Wednesday said that currently PEDO is working on seven projects of 23 MW hydel power in the province and 13 mini grid stations in the merged districts.

During a briefing to Special Assistant to CM on Energy and Power Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed, he said that seven hydel power projects include Jabori 10.2 MW, Carora 11.8 MW, Koto 40.8 MW, Mittaltan 84 MW, Lavi 69 MW, Chapri Charkhel 10.5 MW and Brando 6.5 MW.

He said that with the financial support of Asian Development Bank, work on the largest 300 MW Balakot Hydropower Project and World Bank funded 157 MW Madin Swat and Gabral Kalam 88 MW hydropower projects is underway.

He said for the first time Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Transmission and Grid Company has been set up to improve the power system in the province and to ensure supply of self-generated power.
