‘Children’s personality development a priority’

SUKKUR: Children’s personality development should be a priority so that they can grow up to cope with challenges in their adult life, said chairperson of the National Human Development Society, MNA Syeda Nafisa Shah.

Mothers and teachers are the main people behind a child’s development, she said at a function in a government school in Khairpur. “Children need full attention and care of their mothers and teachers so that they can learn and develop skills,” she added. Teenagers should be given their own space and freedom so that they can learn new things through extra-curricular activities, said Shah. She said that the government is working on a national level project under which 5,000 girls would be educated by the end of the year. She also highlighted activities of the education commission and said that it has established 19,000 literacy centres and 16,000 feeder schools in 144 districts. Shah lauded the role of teachers in the private sector despite the problems they were facing. “Mothers and teachers should not ignore their duties in the development of a strong nation,” she said.
