A list of over two hundred publications was sent to the Advertisements Complaints Redressal Committee (ACRC) for scrutiny and final recommendations for removal from Central Media List (CML) on Sunday.
These publications include newspapers and periodicals which were reported as not regular while many have not provided a single printed copy over the last two months to the designated offices.
The Press Information Department had initiated a system of online attendance for publications to streamline the circulation of newspapers and periodicals throughout the country.
All the publications on the CML are required to provide their printed editions either to PID Islamabad or to the regional information offices in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Gilgit, Larkana and Skardu, it maintained.
The initiative has helped to further streamline government-media relations including allocation of public sector advertisements. This will also help weed out dummy newspapers and will promote healthy journalism in the country.
