KARACHI:

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) organised a protest against the controversial Local Government Amendment Bill 2021 at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Deputy Convener Wasim Akhtar, Kunwar Naveed Jamil, Member National Assembly Kishwar Zehra and Haqparast members of Sindh Assembly spoke to the participants.

Former Karachi mayor Wasim Akhtar, while addressing the participants, said that the representatives of the incompetent and corrupt rural Sindh have been dominating the citizens of the province for thirteen years.

"Today, the PPP has destroyed the KMC, the institution that preceded the emergence of Pakistan. The PPP is recruiting people from interior of Sindh on fake domiciles and civic quotas in Karachi institutions and the PPP, which has been in power since the 1970s, has not been able to build a single hospital in Sindh due to which people from all over the province turn to Karachi hospitals for treatment," Akhtar said.

The deputy convener further said that the PPP ministers were getting rich with the money of Karachi and they would have to return all the institutions of Karachi very soon. He said that the whole of Pakistan including Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir was progressing while the PPP made Sindh the worst province.

"The MQM demands from the courts to restore complete local government system in Karachi and implement Article 140A. If Karachi's tax is not spent over Karachi then we will stop paying taxes," he warned.

"Today the eyes of the people of Karachi are on us. We tried the judiciary, the legislature, the working class all believing in the system but now it seems that the system of Pakistan runs on sit-ins. So now there has to be such a sit-in for the rights of Karachi that people will forget the past. The rulers will have to kneel down," Akhtar said.

Meanwhile, Naveed Jamil said that construction and development of whole Pakistan is completed with the tax of the people of Karachi.
